Cigar Box Fiddle Authentic 1860s Style

Our antique reproduction cigar box fiddles are extremely loud and powerful. They are made from solid Spanish Cedar, with a Western Red Cedar top. The new CodeBow Diamond Series bows draw the best sound from these instruments. The picture shows friction tuners, which were invented in the 1800s. The instrument can be precision fit (important when you don't have fine tuners) regular violin pegs at no additional cost. The pegs are no more "historically appropriate" than friction or geared tuners...simply a matter of personal choice. Traditional pegs, however, do look better for historic reenactments.

This instrument is perfect for Civil War reenactors, as it is close to the authentic instruments crafted and played by both Confederate and Union soldiers.It has dimensions similar to a regular fiddle and fits in a modern violin case (included) if desired. A period wood/leather case will be available either as a kit or completed in the near future.
