This violin is a faithful reproduction of one of Guarneri’s finest woks. The most illustrious member of this famous family of violin makers was Bartolomeo Giuseppe Guarneri (Cremona, Italy, 1698-1744), better known as Joseph Guarnerius del Gesu. The original instrument on which this reproduction is based borrows design elements from Antonio Stradivari and the much earlier Maggini violins. While Antonio Stradivari and Joseph Guarnerius are ranked as the greatest of violin makers, many master violinists prefer the instruments of Joseph Guarnerius del Gesu to those of Stradivari. The Guarnerius reproduction we sell has a well flamed back, sides and scroll, evenly grained seasoned top, dark amber color, ebony trimmings, pegs and tailpiece with Parisian eye. Outstanding master workmanship made in Germany by the famous violin makers, Ernst Heinrich Roth.
