Tradesman Banjo Fretless Version The fretless version of the "Tradesman" by Kevin Enoch is a simple Minstrel-type banjo loosely based on some of the early (1860s) Dobson banjos. They are extremely well-made with high quality materials and Kevin's legendary workmanship. The fretless neck is walnut with a separate ebony fingerboard. The neck's shape, particularly the wonderfully sculptural heal, is designed to be similar to some of the early Dobsons. These instruments, in keeping with their authentic period character, do not have truss rods (a 20th Century invention). In order to keep your beautiful neck from warping, a small graphite rod is placed under the fingerboard for reinforcement. There is no external evidence, such as a truss rod cover, to indicate its presence.

Banjo Ukes or Banjoleles
Banjo Ukulele or Banjolele The Banjo Ukulele or Banjolele is a hybrid of a small banjo and a ukulele. These were extremely popular in the early part of the 20th century. The widely-acknowledged master of the Banjolele is one George Formby. These instruments, while, of course, used to play period music, are also very popular as a fiddle accompaniment instrument.
The Banjolele that we sell, made by Gold Tone, achieves more volume, while keeping that distinctive uke sound. Indeed, the Banjolele is the instrument of choice for uke players seeking more sonic power. This open-back model can be made even louder by adding a resonator. We will have the resonators, flange and brackets for this upgrade very soon.

Banjolins or MandoBanjos
Banjolin or Mandobanjo Whatever you choose to call this instrument, it is very traditional and has been around for quite a long time. Basically it is a roughly mandolin-sized banjo set up and tuned like a mandolin. The scale length, just over 13 inches, is identical to a modern mandolin. This Banjolin/Mandobanjo is by Gold Tone, whose catalog describes the instrument as follows:
Compared to a normal mandolin, our mando banjo is louder and has quick response typical of a banjo body. A brass rod tone ring increases volume and the resonator promotes outward projection. Best of all, compared to its vintage predecessors, it retains proper tuning which has always been a problem with a 10”, 11”, or 12” head. The 8” head may be stretched tighter to avoid the “sinking bridge” problem.
Banjolins and a related instrument, the Banjo Uke or Banjolele are extremely well-suited for accompanying fiddle.

Cello Banjos: Low and Loud--What More Could You Want?
The 4 string cello banjo, originally used in banjo orchestras of the early 20th Century, has been redefined in this decade by the playing style of Marcy Marxer and others. The revived cello banjo was pretty much invented by Gold Tone. Tuned in 5ths (like a mandolin, fiddle, cello, etc.) it allows accompaniment and lead arrangements for not only old time but most all genres of music. It is being used especially in Irish music.
Oh, by the way, these instruments are LOUD!

Tenor Banjos
Tenor Banjo (Deluxe Irish Style No Resonator) 3 A proper open-back, short neck Irish Tenor Banjo by Gold Tone, incorporating the heavy-gauge strings necessary for the correct G D A E tuning.
Excellent tone and volume is a result of a quality White Ladye tone ring, thin maple rim, maple neck and quality components. MOP headstock inlay, hearts and flower position markers, two way adjustable truss rod, and chrome plated hardware are standard equipment. A resonator is an option, but we consider this instrument just fine without it. The lack of a resonator makes for a more traditional sound.
Price: $809.00 $687.65 Retail: $849.00 You Save: $161.35
Tenor Banjo (Deluxe Irish Style with Resonator) 2 This is a new model of true Irish Tenor Banjo from Gold Tone that has bit more punch and volume, largely due to its resonator, than Gold Tone's top-of-the-line open-back Irish Tenor Banjo. This loud and powerful instrument has the proper short scale (19 3/4”), a 3 ply maple rim and cast brass tone ring, one piece flange and 14” resonator. Noted Irish Tenor Banjo players (as in from Ireland) helped in the design of this instrument, which was originally built as a custom instrument for a particular player.

Tenor Banjo (True Irish Style with Resonator by Gold Tone) I love this instrument. It is a true Irish tenor banjo with a maple resonator. See the article on the Adventurous Muse blog, The Difference between Tenor Banjos and Irish Tenor Banjos for VERY important information about the differences between tenor banjos and Irish tenor banjos. It is made by Gold Tone (model CC-IT), partially in Korea, hence the price, and completed in the U.S. It is very nicely set up by the Gold Tone in the U.S..
