Cramer-model Transitional Violin Bow: The shape of the modern violin bow did not leap directly from the short, pointy-headed Baroque bow to the sophisticated, standardized stick in use today. There were several evolutionary steps in between as sticks morphed into bows that would perform the short, bouncy strokes required of the new music of Haydn and Mozart, as well as long, seamless strokes. This is the perfect bow for an 18th Pochette player interested in period authenticity.

Violin String Set, newly redesigned synthetic core of the Corelli Alliance Vivace strings offers more durability and a true gut-like tone like no other string on the market. 4/4 size.
More or less the standard for Perlon-core strings. The wound-E string is much less shrill than a plain E can be on many instruments, especially fiddles with a low string height. 4/4 size.
This strings are great for electric as well as acoustic violins and fiddles.
If there is anything close to the standard string played experienced amateur and professional players, violin as well as fiddle, it would be D'Addario Helicore violin strings. These strings have the perfect balance of power, tone and playability. Also, whether legend or truth, the famous violinist and fiddler, Mark O'Connor uses Helicores on his instruments. 4/4 size.
Also the choice string for 5-String players, as D'Addario actually makes a Helicore C-string, which we sell.

Note: Listed Price is an average only. The price of the strings, which usually ranges from $85 to $120 is based on the unique string requirements for your instrument. We determine these string requirements during initial setup of your instrument.
We use EXTREMELY high-quality strings, depending on the period setup you ask us to replicate.
Stringing a fiddle for historic period authenticity can require everything from ALL old-style pure gut strings to all metal strings, and varioius combinations, depending on the peridod being replicated.
We only sell these strings to customers of our Octave violins and fiddles.
Sensicore Octave Violin Strings by SuperSensitive are the ones we string our own Octave Violins and Fiddles with. We can also supply the Thomastik Octave Strings; however, we must discuss first, as these strings only sound good on certain instruments.
These strings are tuned an octave lower than Sensicore® violin strings while using a regular size violin The multi-filament synthetic core provides the feel of traditional gut strings and stability under temperature and humidity changes
In the realm of gut strings, these are the real deal. These strings are designed for instruments for which absolute historic authenticity is important. This would include late Renaissance fiddles, Baroque Violins, 18th Century Pochettes (such as our Neil Gow Pochette), as well as mid-19th Century Fiddles (although more “modern” strings were available in the latter half of the 19th Century). For Civil War Re-enactors, this is the type of string that would be most commonly used by a soldier of the 1960s.
Pirastro Eudoxa Wound Gut Strings: These are “modern” gut violin strings (with an aluminum E) that are also suitable for use on late 18th Century Pochettes and mid-19th Century Fiddles if absolute authenticity (but close to it) is not necessary. If you require absolute period authenticity, especially for pre-19th Century instruments, see the Pirastro Chorda plain gut strings.
Pirastro Obligato Violin Strings, Set, 4/4 size: An exclusive new Pirastro core material along with advances in manufacturing technique resulting in the proven sound of gut strings with the advantages of synthetic based strings.
Pirastro Oliv Wound Gut Strings: These are “modern” gut violin strings (with a gold-plated steel E) that are also suitable for use on late 18th Century Pochettes and mid-19th Century Fiddles if absolute authenticity (but close to it) is not necessary. If you require absolute period authenticity, especially for pre-19th Century instruments, see the Pirastro Chorda plain gut strings.
