Adventurer IIc Travel Violin The Adventurer IIc Travel Violin (also known as a backpacker violin or fiddle) is just over 3" wide, but has a full 4/4 string length. Due to our innovative tuned porting and other trade secrets, this instrument has the volume and power of a full-sized violin or fiddle. The Adventurer IIc Travel Violin is very similar in appearance to an historic (18th Century) pochette or "Dancing Master's" kit fiddle. Indeed, it looks very much like our own extremely popular Neil Gow Pochette. It can be thought of a a modern pochette.
This is the instrument that many of our customers have been waiting for. Over $100,000 of design research, consumer research and technical R&D went into the new Adventurer IIc Travel Violin.

Mountaineer Backpacker Fiddle The Rickert Mountaineer Backpacker Fiddle is a really skinny (but full 4/4 length) travel fiddle that is extremely durable for the most punishing environments. The Mountaineer Backpacker Fiddle, offered in only as a kit currently is designed to accommodate a Wolf center-mount chin rest. The instrument is just 2" wide and is standard 4/4 length (body just under 14" and total length about 23").
If you know anything about Thomas Jefferson, he would buy this instrument in the blink of the eye...oh, wait--he did!
WANT TO PLAY A FIDDLE LIKE THE ONE THAT NEIL GOW (one of the founding fathers of Scottish fiddling) played. THOMAS JEFFERSON often played a fiddle of this type as well (yup, the President was a fiddler as well).
The LAST regular production Travel Master has left our studio/workshop. This instrument is only available on a custom-build basis

Whiskey Box Pocket Fiddle by Don Rickert Design About a year and a half ago, Dr. Rickert, did a design study of just how simple one could make a pocket fiddle, also known as a pochette and still get a decent sound with good playability. The outcome was a prototype of a pochette-sized instrument made from half of a whiskey or wine bottle box. Think of it as a really skinny cigar box fiddle. The body is made of basswood (linden) and the top is good spruce tone wood. It played and sounded amazingly good.
Anyway, we made a video of Darci Jones playing a tune called "The Bright Hollow Fog" and it has gotten about 10,000 viewings on YouTube, and more positive commentary than any other instrument we make. We have not made a production version of the Whisky Bottle Box Pochette until now.
